QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Extensive knowledge of diesel technology with a minimum of three years shop experience as a technician.
2. Diesel Technology diploma/degree required.
3. Previous experience with Caterpillar agricultural equipment required.
4. Related diesel instructor credentials a plus.
5. Computer literate.
6. Previous supervisory experience a plus.
7. Excellent people skills and an affinity for working with young adults and coworkers in a team environment to support students.
8. Bilingual a plus.
9. National Career Readiness Certificate level Silver or higher a plus.

REPORTS TO: Diesel Technology Department Supervisor, Dean of Academics, Vice President

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Classroom instruction and curriculum development for Caterpillar agricultural diesel equipment repair including:
   1. Electrical systems diagnosis
   2. Diesel engine electronic fuel systems
   3. Power trains
   4. Preventative maintenance
   5. Heating and air conditioning systems
   6. Welding
   7. Hydraulics
2. Supervision and instruction in lab.
3. Maintain inventory and equipment.
4. Assist with planning, implementation and evaluation of diesel curriculum.
5. Monitor safety procedures in student operation of equipment and overall lab safety.
6. Work in partnership with diesel instructors to create an effective teaching team.
7. Obtain and maintain certification in all areas taught.
8. Assist with student recruitment/public relations for the department and college.
9. Serve as a positive role model for students.
10. Develop and maintain industry connections.
11. Travel is required to visit students on internships.
12. Other duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

220 day contract. Position starts in August 2024.  Salary and benefits set by Watertown Board of Education in accordance with the state postsecondary technical instructor salary formula.
