Job Title: School Psychologist
Work Days: 40 hours per week, school calendar term
Reports To: Director of Special Services
REQUIREMENTS: Certified School Psychologist
JOB SUMMARY: To provide psychological and other services required to assess student abilities, skills, and needs, as they relate to special education eligibility and/or program development.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborates and consults effectively with school staff and parents. May include, but not exclusive to, attending or leading staff development activities.
- Demonstrates ability to integrate, synthesize, and interpret data from standardized and non-standardized sources.
- Uses a systematic problem solving process when assessing student needs and developing appropriate educational plans, including educational and behavioral interventions.
- Exhibits effective communication when working with school staff, students, and parents.
- Is knowledgeable and uses empirically sound methods and assessments when gathering information for the evaluation of student abilities, skills, and needs in accordance with special education procedure and policies.
- Assists in identifying individual needs and makes placement recommendations of students following the state special education criteria and federal guidelines.
- Participates in eligibility and IEP meetings as needed to meet the needs of identified students.
- Collaborates with school staff, other specialists, and community resources to meet the needs of students.
- Maintains student records in accordance with district, state, and federal policies and regulations.
- Practices all ethical and legal standards of the school psychology profession.
- Reports abuse to appropriate agencies as per local, state, and federal policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

- Climate Environment: Typically, work is conducted in a comfortable environment. Some District work areas are not climate controlled and are subject to extremes of temperature and humidity.
- Hazards: For some buildings, stairs, chalk dust and exposure to communicable diseases may be a potential hazard. Travel between schools will cause exposure to hazardous driving and walking conditions.
