JOB TITLE: Special Education Classroom Teacher
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
SUPERVISES: Students assigned to caseload
WORKS WITH: Classroom aides, classroom teachers, administrators, other classroom teachers, classified staff, parents, community members
QUALIFICATIONS: Current South Dakota teaching certificate
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT AND HOURS OF DUTY: 8:00-4:00
JOB SUMMARY: Works with student in a special education classroom setting on a daily basis teaching students curriculum aligned with their Individual Educational Plan in order to facilitate students’ growth.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Knowledge of students and learning.
- Knowledge of instructional skills and techniques.
- Knowledge of classroom and instructional area management.
- Develop and utilize lesson plans which incorporate Individual Educational Plan
- Work with support staff to gain appropriate services to meet students’ needs.
- Communicate with parents on progress of students or other needed topics related to academic achievement
- Knowledge/observe District’s Board Policies and Procedures.
- Knowledge/observe District’s negotiated Master Contract.
- Knowledge/observe individual building procedures.
- Knowledge of special education needs of students.
- Pursues professional growth.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
