QUALIFICATIONS:
- Extensive knowledge of diesel technology with a minimum of three years shop experience as a technician.
- Diesel Technology diploma/degree preferred.
- Computer literate including truck engine and/or agriculture equipment software.
- Excellent people skills, affinity for working with young adults and coworkers in a team environment.
- Bilingual a plus and/or National Career Readiness Certificate Level Silver or higher a plus.
REPORTS TO: Diesel Department Supervisors, Dean of Academics, Vice President
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ability to assist in classroom instruction and curriculum development for diesel heavy-duty truck and/or agricultural equipment repair including:
- Electrical systems diagnosis
- Diesel engine electronic fuel systems
- Drive trains
- Preventative maintenance
- Heating and air conditioning systems
- Welding
- Hydraulics
- Supervision and instruction in lab.
- Maintain inventory and equipment.
- Assist with planning, implementation and evaluation of Diesel curriculum.
- Monitor safety procedures in student operation of equipment and overall lab safety.
- Work in partnership with Diesel instructors to create an effective teaching team.
- Assist with student recruitment/public relations for department and Lake Area Tech.
- Provide a positive role model for students; develop and maintain industry connections.
- Assume the role of inventory control and purchase operations for Diesel department.
- Manage and supervise diesel specialty
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
180-day contract. Salary and benefits set by Watertown Board of Education in accordance with the state postsecondary technical instructor salary formula. |
