POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Educare Team Lead plays a vital leadership role in providing high-quality early childhood education and care for children enrolled in the Lake Area Technical College (LATC) Educare Center. This position assists the Educare Director in daily operations, mentoring staff, ensuring compliance with licensing regulations, and maintaining a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children. The Team Lead models best practices in early childhood education, supports curriculum implementation, and promotes effective communication among team members, families, and college personnel.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field a plus.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a licensed childcare setting.
- Supervisory or mentoring experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of child development and early learning best practices.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, staff, and families.
- Capacity to multitask, problem-solve, and maintain composure in a dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of licensing requirements and health/safety regulations.
- CPR and First Aid certification required or ability to obtain.
- Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs., stand or sit for extended periods, and actively engage with children.
- May involve exposure to cleaning chemicals, bodily fluids, and childhood illnesses.
- Requires flexibility to occasionally work outside typical hours to support special events or staffing needs.
A REPORTS TO: Educare Director, Vice President
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Educare Director in planning and overseeing daily operations and classroom activities. This position will be assigned to oversee the infant room area.
- Serve as a mentor and resource to teaching staff and aides; provide coaching, guidance, and feedback.
- Help ensure compliance with all Department of Social Services childcare licensing regulations and LATC policies.
- Model and promote developmentally appropriate practices and positive behavior guidance techniques.
- Provide direct care and education to children when needed, maintaining proper ratios and a positive learning environment.
- Support curriculum development and implementation in alignment with best practices in early childhood education.
- Assist in coordinating staff schedules, managing classroom coverage, and ensuring smooth transitions.
- Support professional development and training of Educare team members.
- Communicate effectively with parents and families, addressing questions or concerns in a timely and respectful manner.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, incidents, developmental milestones, and other required documentation.
- Promote a culture of safety and collaboration within the Educare Center.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and college-related events as needed.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and benefits set by the Watertown School board.
Fulltime Classified, Salary: $15.75 - $17.50 per hour (plus benefits) which include:
