Job Title: Special Education Paraprofessional
Work Days: School calendar term or as assigned at the time of employment or as amended. Hours flexible but not to exceed 7 ½ hours per day with a morning and afternoon break and a ½ hour lunch break; breaks will be pro-rated for shorter contract hours of duty
Reports To: Primarily the learning center teacher who is responsible for special education student or students’ program in the building
REQUIREMENTS: Special education student(s) in various settings as directed by the IEP and special education teacher
JOB SUMMARY: Works directly with the classroom teacher to provide clerical and instructional support of the teacher
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITES:
- Works with student(s) with disabilities under the direction and supervision of the learning center teacher
- Provides lesson and learning reinforcement through a variety of activities which follow the goals set forth on the child’s IEP and which are consistent with the instruction with the teacher.
- Follow behavior plans and procedures as set down in school policy or in student individual behavior plans
- Provide assistance in self help and custodial needs, including dressing, toileting, feeding, etc.
- Maintains strict confidentiality regarding student information, needs, behaviors, and programming.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to sit, stand, and walk without fatigue and discomfort. Must be able to lift 25 pounds and push or pull 50 pounds.
