POSITION OVERVIEW: Lake Area Technical College seeks a talented and collaborative Choral Accompanist to support the college’s choral program. The accompanist provides piano accompaniment for rehearsals, performances, and events, assists in preparing musical materials, and supports the overall success of the college’s choral ensemble(s). This position plays an essential role in fostering an engaging and positive musical environment for students.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Demonstrated proficiency in piano performance and sight-reading.
• Ability to accompany a variety of musical styles and levels.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Dependable, punctual, and organized.
• Previous experience accompanying choral groups, particularly in educational settings a plus.
• Experience working with college-age musicians or community ensembles a plus.
• Part-time, flexible schedule based on rehearsal and performance calendar.
• Evening and occasional weekend availability required for concerts and special events.
• Ability to lift and move light musical equipment (under 25 lbs.) when needed.

REPORTS TO: Campus Life Director, Dean of Student Services

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide piano accompaniment for all choir rehearsals, sectionals, and performances.
• Collaborate with the Choral Director to prepare musical selections and rehearsal materials.
• Assist in leading vocal warm-ups or sectional rehearsals as needed.
• Accompany soloists, small ensembles, or special music events connected to the college.
• Maintain familiarity with all musical scores and adapt to varying rehearsal needs.
• Attend scheduled rehearsals, concerts, and special events as assigned.
• Assist with logistical preparation for performances (e.g., music setup, stage arrangement, equipment transport).
• Serve as a positive ambassador for Lake Area Technical College’s fine arts and campus life programming.
