Position Overview: The Dental Hygiene Clinical Adjunct Instructor is responsible for providing laboratory, simulation, and/or clinical instruction to students enrolled in the Dental Hygiene Program. This position supports student learning through instruction, supervision, mentoring, and evaluation while maintaining compliance with accreditation standards, institutional policies, and professional dental hygiene practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene from an institution accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
- Current South Dakota dental hygiene license or eligibility for licensure.
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical dental hygiene experience.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and patients.
- Previous teaching or clinical instruction experience preferred.
- Knowledge of accreditation standards and competency-based education preferred.
Reports To: Dental Hygiene Program Director, Dean of Academics, Vice President
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach assigned dental hygiene courses in preclinical and/or clinical settings.
- Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback.
- Supervise students during clinical experiences to ensure safe and effective patient care.
- Support program policies, procedures, and accreditation standards.
- Participate in faculty meetings, calibration sessions, and professional development activities as requested.
- Promote professionalism, ethical conduct, and evidence-based practice.
- Maintain current knowledge and competency in dental hygiene education and clinical practice.
Employment Status
- Part-time, clinical instructor position; schedule varies based on program needs.
Terms of Employment
Salary set by Watertown Board of Education in accordance with the state postsecondary technical instructor salary formula.
Salary: $41.25 per hour |
