REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Preferred associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or high school diploma/GED/equivalent combination of education and experience in working with children and/or families.
  2. Regular, reliable attendance.
  3. Dependable transportation, a valid driver’s License, and proof of insurance.
  4. Ability to maintain confidential information, communicate effectively, and use a wide range of strategies to accomplish goals.

 

JOB SUMMARY: Works with school administrators, students, parents, and school and community partners with a focus on keeping students in school, improving student and school attendance rates, and educating staff and families. Provide support, and community connections, build relationships, and connect students with academic support. This position is funded with a grant expiring in May 2026.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Monitor school attendance for designated grade level of students.
  2. Work to foster a sense of belonging for students/families within school buildings while developing positive relationships.
  3. Communicate regularly through the messaging system, text messages, emails, or phone calls with families regarding regular school attendance.
  4. Promotes parental involvement in the schools and is the link between the school and home to help families understand the expectations for their children’s success in school.
  5. Provides transportation solutions for students and parents (on an emergency basis) for school attendance and meeting purposes.
  6. Address skills such as goal setting, resiliency, self-management, self-advocacy, social awareness, and responsible decision-making. 
  7. Communicate with homeroom advisors, classroom teachers, and building administration as needed about specific student needs, opportunities, or concerns.
  8. Work with school counselor(s) and teachers to develop differentiated instruction and course planning to meet academic interests/needs.
  9. Maintains the confidentiality of students and staff.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

  1. Climate Environment: Inside work.  The school may or may not be climate-controlled.  Home visits may be required.
  2. Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit, stand, and walk without fatigue or discomfort. May be required to perform reaching, some lifting or carrying (25 pounds), pulling or pushing (50 pounds), standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, sitting, and/or crawling.
