SUPERVISES: Elementary school custodial assistants

 

WORKS WITH:  Other custodians, staff and students

 

QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalency; custodial experience preferred, excellent organizational and work skills, excellent ability to relate to and serve others to meet the mission of the district

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT AND HOURS OF DUTY: 12 month contract; 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or as otherwise flexibly scheduled by the principal

 

JOB SUMMARY: Provide and carry-out a program for the complete maintenance and upkeep of the school complex and grounds

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Organize and direct the work schedule of all custodial assistants.
  2. Train new custodial assistants
  3. Recommend employment status of all assistants to the principal
  4. Initiate repairs, replacements and upgrades as needed to best enhance the appearance and function of the facility
  5. Maintain and replenish custodial inventory to meet maintenance requirements
  6. Secure outside vendors for repairs which cannot be achieved by resident custodial personnel
  7. Maintain a fully operational fire alarm system
  8. Coordinate fire alarm drills with the principal or designee.
  9. Establish a plan and routine to promote economy of resources for heat, light, water, and supplies.
  10. Establish a plan and routine to maintain building security and access to the building and rooms
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds and push or pull 100 pounds and be able to walk without fatigue or discomfort.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS: Must be able to work indoors and outdoors as necessary.

 

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be determined in accordance with provisions of the evaluation policy and procedures of the board of education.

 

BOARD RELATIONS: Provide information to board members upon request and attend all board meetings as requested by the superintendent or his designee.

 

PUBLIC RELATIONS: Present a pro-active and positive image of the school, students, and staff and fosters the district mission of enabling all students to succeed in an ever-changing world.
