DESCRIPTION:

 

Lake Area Technical College is seeking a qualified and motivated Clinical Adjunct Instructor to support our Surgical Technology students during their clinical education in Sioux Falls, SD. This part-time position plays a vital role in student learning and professional development by providing hands-on guidance, mentorship, and evaluation in surgical clinical settings.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

• Supervise and mentor Lake Area Technical College Surgical Technology students in Sioux Falls-based clinical sites.

 

• Serve as a liaison between the clinical site staff and the college’s Surgical Technology program.

 

• Monitor and evaluate student performance based on established program and clinical site competencies.

 

• Provide constructive feedback and support to ensure students meet program standards and industry expectations.

 

• Complete grading of clinical related assignments.

 

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student progress, attendance, and clinical evaluations.

 

• Ensure adherence to accreditation and programmatic standards, including compliance with ARC/STSA and CAAHEP guidelines.

 

• Promote safe, ethical, and professional behavior in clinical environments.

 

• Attend virtual or in-person adjunct faculty meetings and training sessions as required.

 

 

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

• Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Technology program.

 

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential in good standing required.

 

• Minimum of three years of recent experience in the operating room as a surgical

 

• Prior teaching or clinical education experience preferred, but not required.

 

• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

 

• Ability to mentor students in a diverse clinical environment.

 

• Must reside in or near Sioux Falls or be willing to travel to Sioux Falls weekly.

 

• Clinical supervision generally occurs Monday and Tuesday from 6 AM – 3 PM

 

 

REPORTS TO:  Department Lead, Assistant Dean of Academics, Vice President
