POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Student Success and Career Services Coordinator at Lake Area Technical College is a dynamic, self-motivated individual who will lead efforts to enhance student success, retention, and career services. This role requires a proactive approach to building student relationships,developing support services, and utilizing data to inform strategies and improvements. The
coordinator will work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and industry partners to ensure students' academic and career achievements.


QUALIFICATIONS:

1. AAS degree or bachelor’s in education, counseling, student affairs, or a related field.
2. Experience in higher education, student services, or career services is a plus.
3. Strong analytical skills and experience with data collection and analysis.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
6. High degree of organization, detail orientation, and persistence.


REPORTS TO: Dean of Student Services, Vice President


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Collaborate with data personnel to collect, store, and analyze data related to student
success.
2. Use statistical data to improve retention efforts and address institutional challenges for
both online and on-campus students.
3. Collect data for the college's placement report and ensure its accuracy and timeliness.
4. Educate faculty, staff, students, and industry partners on strategies to improve student
success.
5. Promote available student services to all stakeholders.
6. Cultivate relationships with students to develop and execute plans to increase enrollment,
retention, and graduation rates. This will require personal on campus visits and phone
calls to students.
7. Serve as a liaison between students and other Student Services-related functions, such as
financial aid, veterans services, library, student activities, and employment assistance.
8. Assist in the development of additional student support services aimed at improving
retention and graduation rates.
9. Develop and coordinate the implementation of a comprehensive Student Success Plan.
10. Provide follow-up to students with issues and/or concerns, ensuring outstanding customer
service.
11. Manage the Lake Area Tech job posting website, approving postings from employers.
12. Assist students with employment opportunities and resources to find jobs while at college.
13. Connect students with employers and career opportunities before graduation.
14. Oversee the work-study program, pairing students with positions on and off campus.
15. Assist with career exploration opportunities on campus.
16. Work closely with fellow staff members and other departments to ensure timely handling
of student inquiries.
17. Actively reach out to and develop professional relationships with students to motivate
them to complete their program of study.
18. Detail-oriented follow-up with graduates to inquire about their employment status for the
placement report.
19. Assist the team with the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) appeal process, supporting
students in filing SAP appeals and ensuring all necessary documentation is accurately
completed and submitted.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 

220 day contract with salary and benefits set by the Watertown School Board.
