POSITION OVERVIEW:
Lake Area Technical College seeks a highly motivated and knowledgeable Precision Agriculture Instructor to join our nationally recognized college. The successful candidate will provide hands-on, innovative instruction in precision agriculture technologies, data management, and modern production practices. This position plays a critical role in preparing students for careers in the rapidly evolving agriculture industry while supporting the college’s mission of providing superior, comprehensive technical education that changes lives and launches careers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates degree in Precision Agriculture, Agronomy, Agricultural Systems Technology, or a related field required.
- Three years of industry experience in agriculture.
- Industry certifications in precision ag technologies, UAS/drone operations, or GIS/GPS mapping a plus.
- Relevant industry experience in precision agriculture, crop consulting, farm management, or ag technology applications.
- Demonstrated ability to operate and teach the use of modern agricultural equipment, software, and technology systems.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to foster student learning through hands-on teaching, mentorship, and real-world applications.
REPORTS TO: Ag Department Supervisor, Dean of Academics, Vice President
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver engaging classroom, lab, and field instruction in areas such as GPS/GIS technologies, variable rate technology, remote sensing, data analytics, drones/UAS, and precision farming equipment.
- Develop and update curriculum to align with industry standards, emerging technologies, and workforce needs.
- Provide instruction that emphasizes practical application and problem-solving.
- Maintain industry partnerships and serve as a liaison between the program and local/regional ag businesses.
- Supervise and mentor students in hands-on labs, internships, and applied research projects.
- Incorporate safety, sustainability, and innovation into all aspects of teaching.
- Participate in student advising, recruitment, and retention activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the Agriculture Division and college to support interdisciplinary learning.
- Engage in professional development to remain current with advancements in precision agriculture technologies and best practices.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
186 day contract with salary and benefits set by the Watertown School Board.
