JOB SUMMARY

 

Teaching students in the nursing clinical setting and assisting in the classroom as needed.

 

Professional Requirements

 

  1. A registered nurse with a minimum of a baccalaureate degree. Master's degree preferred.
  2. Licensed to practice nursing in South Dakota.
  3. Has a minimum of three years of practice in healthcare.
  4. Has a minimum of one-year clinical experience, as a registered nurse, in the area of teaching responsibility.
  5. Encouraged to be a member of a professional nursing organization.
  6. Excellent people skills, affinity for working with students, patients, and coworkers.
  7. Computer literate.

Job Requirements

 

  1. Demonstrates understanding and support of the philosophy and mission of the school and nursing department.
  2. Displays knowledge of the role and scope of practice of the licensed practical nurse.
  3. Demonstrates competence in nursing especially in area of teaching responsibility.
  4. Reports to the Nursing Department Supervisor, Dean of Academics, Vice President.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  1. Orients self to clinical units, specific to areas of responsibility.
  2. Supervises, instructs, and evaluates students in the clinical area.
  3. Assists in the development and maintenance of collegial relationships with college and clinical agency staff.
  4. Assists with student advising.
  5. Fosters and upholds to policies of the college and the specific policies of the nursing department.

 

 

REPORTS TO: Nursing Department Supervisor, Dean of Academics, Vice President

 

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

 

Hourly rate set by the Watertown School Board. The rate for 2022-2023 is $30.25 per hour. The rate for candidates with a Master's degree in Nursing is $32.00 per hour.
